YMCA P.L.A.Y. AT PASS!

We are very lucky to have YMCA's P.L.A.Y. (Physical Learning Activities for Youth) program with us at Primary Academy.  Every Monday morning, all K-2nd students will receive guided physical education instruction for one hour.  Parents, please make sure your child wears comfortable clothes and tennis shoes on Mondays.  If there any health concerns, please notify your child's teacher.  The PLAY program is funded with Student Body money.

BREAKFAST IN CLASSROOM

LAUSD's "Breakfast in the Classroom" program has improved attendance, increased academic performance, and increased student focus.  Please help us support your children by making sure your child gets to school on time.  Please take note of these guidelines:

  1. School will open at 7:30. Breakfast will not be served in the cafeteria at this time!
  2. Breakfast will be served IN THE CLASSROOM from 7:50 - 8:10am every day, for every student.
  3. Students will only have 15 minutes to eat their breakfast.
  4. If your child is late to school, there will be no second chance breakfast at recess time!
  5. We cannot save or hold a breakfast for your child if you are running late.  
  6. You may send a snack with your child for recess.

SSC & ELAC ELECTIONS

Parents! We need your participation! Elections for SSC (School Site Council) and ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) will be held WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2018 @ 8:15am.  Even if you do not wish to be a member, you are encouraged to attend.

All parents are invited to all of our SSC & ELAC meetings this year.

 

All ELAC meetings will be at 8:15am in the MPR.

All SSC meetings will be at 2:30pm in a classoom.

 

The following Wednesdays are scheduled for this year.  Some dates may change due to budget development.

KINDNESS WEEK

During this year's KINDNESS WEEK, students, parents, and staff showcased different ways to express kindness. We had a themed dress day all week, like "Crazy for Kindness" (Crazy Hair Day) and "Powered by Kindness" (Superhero Day).  Parents helped students make Kindness Cards that gave compliments to others. Kindness Hands were given out to students that showed kindness.  Students even took inventory on how many kind acts they could do in a week!

 

We were also showcased on LAUSD’s daily newsletter!

KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT OPEN!

Enrollment for the 2018-19 school year in Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is now OPEN! Please come to our main office between the hours of 7:30 am - 4:00 pm for enrollment packets.

Digital Citizenship

Common Sense Media is a great resource for parents and teachers!  There are reviews of books, movies, games, apps, and tips for parents that let you know what is age-appropriate for your child.  There is a summer reading list on the website too!

PASS is Honored with GOLD RIBBON SCHOOL AWARD

California State Schools Superintendent Tom Torlakson awarded Primary Academy for Success with the Gold Ribbon Award for Excellence! Out of 6,000 eligible California elementary schools, 44 LAUSD schools were bestowed the Gold Ribbon.  Primary Academy is very proud of all the students, teachers, staff, and parents who helped us achieve this accomplishment.  To read more, click this link here.

 

 

Northwest STEAMFEST!


On March 4th at Cleveland High School, Primary Academy was one of 100 schools showcasing all the wonderful things happening all over the NorthWest district! Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math education was displayed from elementary, middle, and high schools.  Former and current PASS students were there enjoying the various crafts, activities, entertainment, and food that SteamFest offered.  Primary Academy submitted a video of our wonderful classes. IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS

Parents:  Please follow these safety rules:

- No double-parking on Willis Avenue

- No parking in the coned valet-zone along Nordhoff in the mornings.  

- Use all crosswalks, and be aware of moving vehicles.  

- Staff parking lot is for school staff only

- Our Campus Aides in vests will monitor the areas.  

School Wide Positive Behavior Support

Please take time to read through our School Wide Positive Behavior Support plan.  A copy was sent home and will be sent home again at the start of every school year.  We adhere to the 6 Pillars of Character in the classroom and throughout the campus, and acknowledge students who exemplify those pillars at our monthly assemblies.  

Parents, please encourage your children to follow the pillars of character and be model students.  Being positive with your children will help them be successful throughout their lives!

Lost and Found

Parents, please make sure to LABEL and write your child's name on the tags. Many jackets and sweaters get left on the playground. Any clothing left at the end of the school year will be donated to the Salvation Army.
